A species list of well over 200 birds is growing in the area in part because more birders are observing in the area and new species are arriving. The following list is a partial sampling of the birds that have been seen in the Nebraska National Forest, directly adjacent the ranch.

Photographic opportunities of nature, the Sandhills, the rivers, sunrises, sunsets, beautiful blue skies, wildlife, flora, trains and ranch scenes abound around you at the Middle Loup River Ranch Guest House.
Train Watching
The Burlington Northern Santa Fe’s major coal route from Wyoming runs through the ranch for great train watching and train photography.
